Fine Art Shop Now Open! | Fuquay Varina, NC Photographer

I have been busy working on something for a little while and I’m excited to finally be able to share it with you– Natalie Holm Photography now has a Fine Art Shop!! Yipee!

The idea behind this shop is to offer prints of some of the various images you see around the site. As much as I love taking photos of families, couples, and high school seniors, I also really enjoy using my camera in other creative ways. Like taking photos of our HVAC. Ha!

Composition, lighting, perspective– it’s all so fun to play with! I’m also having a great time with macro photography (close up images of leaves, bugs, flowers, etc.)

Images are available in print sizes of 8 x 10, 8 x 12, 11 x 14, 16 x 20, and 20 x 30. Prices are determined by size and start at $25. You can place your order online and it will be shipped directly to your door (approximate shipping times are 5-7 business days.) I’ll be adding more images to the Shop in the coming weeks, so keep checking back!

Fuquay Varina, NC Photographer | {Frank & Gail}

Back at the end of March, I had the pleasure of spending some time with this delightful couple! Frank and Gail are preparing to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary in a few months– can you believe that? Sixty years! They told me some stories from their wedding day and we talked a little about how much things have changed in those 60 years. I had such a good time with them and I sincerely hope that when it’s time for my 60th wedding anniversary that I will be just as delightful as they were. Thanks, Frank and Gail!!

Mother’s Day is Coming!! | Fuquay Varina, NC Family Photographer

Seeing that 1) I am a mother and 2) I have a mother, I like to think that I am an expert on mothers. Here is something I think I can say without any qualification– we love our babies!

And though there are times when I desperately desire for my children to be all grown up (or at least fully in control of all their bodily functions), I am also very aware that their childhood is likely to speed by faster than I’d like. And I think that’s probably true for most of us– we are caught in this strange limbo. Every day life can be hard with little ones, but we also dread the day when all those hard days will be over and our babies will no longer be babies… or even teenagers!

And so as Mother’s Day approaches, think about your mom and how much she loves her babies (even if her babies are all grown up!) Think about how much she loves photos of her babies, and perhaps give her a gift certificate to have some family portraits taken. Or, buy her a print of a pretty flower that she can hang on her wall. Because, well, mothers also love pretty things.

Apex, NC Children’s Photographer | {Brayden LOVES Tractors!}

Brayden loves tractors. That’s not uncommon for little boys his age, but what IS uncommon is getting the chance to explore the real thing. His mama got permission for us to climb all over the tractors at DJ’s Berry Patch in Apex, NC. Though the strawberries weren’t quite ready, I could tell that was totally okay with Brayden. The tractors were the main attraction for him!

We had fun wandering around the rows of strawberries and when it came time for Brayden to look at the camera, I would yell, “Say TRACTOR!” and he would give me the biggest grins. He was such a pleasure to hang out with and I learned quite a bit, too. There are John Deer tractors and Holland tractors and Ford tractors… I think this is good information to have being a mama of two little boys, myself. It’s important to be well informed about trains, construction vehicles, and tractors, right?

Thanks, Brayden (and parents!) for teaching me all about tractors. I had a great time with you!

Fuquay Varina, NC Children’s Photographer | {Jonah turns ONE!}

I attended one of the cutest parties that I’ve ever seen (or heard of!) this past weekend. Jonah turns ONE this week and his mama (Katie, from Stick Boy Bread fame) really outdid herself in celebration. The theme was The Very Hungry Caterpillar and I do believe that Eric Carle would have been proud! As you would expect from parents that own a bakery, the cake was amazing. Katie’s brother, Stephen, creates all the cakes for Stick Boy and he did an incredible job on Jonah’s cake. It was super yummy, too!

While that cake would have completely made the party for me, there was MORE! All the mama’s (and daddy’s) out there will know how cool this is– all the food corresponded to what the little caterpillar ate in the story! On Monday he ate through one apple, on Tuesday he ate through two pears, on Wednesday he ate through three plums… and on and on. There were oranges, and strawberries, cherry pie and Swiss cheese. It was fantastic!

I absolutely adore all the detail that went into this party! I cannot wait for Jonah’s next birthday– Katie, I hope you know how high you set the bar for yourself. You’ve got at least 10 more years of throwing little-boy-birthday parties ahead of you… now we all know what to expect! {And I may be hitting you up from some party-planning advice for a certain little boy who is about to turn 3!}

Thanks, Katie, Josh & Jonah– I had a fabulous time at your party and I’m glad I get to call you friends. Much love to you.
